What we store
- Challenges and moves: the game, the names you type, every move with its time, and the result. This is what makes links, live play, replays and result cards work.
- A player ID cookie (
bm_pid): a random identifier, not your name, that lets us recognise your browser when you come back. We use it to keep your games together, to show statistics such as how many games a player has played, and to fight abuse. It lasts two years. - A seat cookie (
bm_seat) for each game you play in, so the game knows it is you. - Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, language, and the page that referred you, used for security, abuse prevention and statistics.
- Your settings: your name and light or dark theme, kept in your own browser (local storage).
How long
Challenges and their moves are deleted after 180 days. Page-visit logs are deleted after 60 days.
Analytics and advertising
If we use analytics or advertising services, they only load after you agree in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Robot checks
To keep spam out, starting or accepting a challenge may be checked by Google reCAPTCHA, which is subject to Google's privacy policy and terms.
Children
BeatMe is a general-audience site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond the name they choose to type, which can be anything.
Your rights
You can ask us what we store about you, and ask us to delete it. Contact us at the address above.
