A quiz about the whole world

Geography is the one quiz topic everybody has a fair chance at, wherever they live. Which river flows through Cairo? Which country does this flag belong to? What was Istanbul called before? Geo Quiz asks ten questions like these, and your friend gets exactly the same ten.

The questions come from a bank of more than a thousand: flags and capitals of almost 200 countries, plus hand-written questions about rivers, lakes, mountains, deserts, seas, islands, famous cities and landmarks, borders and a little history of places. Every question is checked and translated into all the languages of the site, so you can play against a friend who speaks another language.

How to play Geo Quiz

Pick a level and send the link

Easy, mixed or hard, and surprise questions or the quiz of the day. You can play first and send the beatme.link link as a target, or send it right away.

Twenty seconds per question

Tap Start and the first question appears with four answers. Pick one before the bar runs out. The clock runs on our server, so there’s no time to look it up.

See the right answer

After each answer the right one lights up green, and the next question follows. The questions get a little harder towards the end.

Compare your answers

When you’re both done, more right answers wins. With the same score, the faster total time wins. Then go through all ten questions side by side.

What the questions are about

  • Flags: which country a flag belongs to, or which flag is the right one for a country. Look-alike flags are never shown together.
  • Capitals: the capital of a country, or the country of a capital, from Paris to Ouagadougou.
  • Nature: rivers, lakes, waterfalls, mountains, volcanoes, deserts, seas, straits and islands.
  • Countries and cities: neighbours and borders, famous landmarks, regions, languages and currencies.
  • Former names: Constantinople, Saigon, Bombay, Ceylon, Persia and more.

Three levels

Easy sticks to what most people know: big countries, famous rivers and well-known flags. Mixed starts easy and ends with a couple of hard ones. Hard is for geography fans: small countries, tricky capitals and look-twice flags. In every quiz the questions come from all over the world, never ten about one continent.

Fair for both players

Both players get the same questions in the same order with the same answers. A question only reaches your page when you open it, and its right answer only after you’ve answered, so nobody can peek. Your friend’s answers stay hidden until you’ve answered the same question yourself.
