The classic word game, two ways

Hangman is the word game everyone played on the back of an exercise book: one word, a row of blanks, and a stickman who gets a new line for every wrong letter. On BeatMe you can play it two ways, and you choose when you start.

Race: our server picks a well-known word and shows its category. You and your friend guess the same word at the same time, each on your own gallows, and you can watch the other stickman grow (but never see their letters). Get hanged and you lose on the spot; if you both solve it, fewer sticks win. Pick a word: type a secret word and a hint for your friend and watch them guess it live. The rematch swaps roles, so the next word is theirs to pick.

Hangman tips

• Start with vowels. E, A, O and I are in almost every word and show you its shape.
• Then the common consonants. In English R, S, T, N and L hit most often. Q, X and Z are risky.
• Use the category. An animal with six letters and a double letter? Think before you tap.
• Watch your opponent. In a race you see their stickman. If they are on four sticks, you can afford to be careful.

Fair for both players

The word stays on our server until the round is over, so nobody can look it up in the page. In a race you only ever see how many sticks your opponent has, never their letters, so playing second gives you no help. Picked words go through our filter, so links, phone numbers and rude words are refused.
